Electrophysiology
The Gillis Electrophysiology Laboratory, located at the Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center , studies how a rise in intracellular calcium concentration triggers the secretion of hormones and neurotransmitter from endocrine cells and neurons using electrical and optical assays. As a bioengineering laboratory, we are also continuously developing or refining technology for cellular electrophysiology. For example, we are developing new microchip devices for measuring secretion with millisecond time resolution.
